Cookies policy

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small data files that are generated in the user's computer and they allow us to see how often they visit, the content they select the most and the security elements that may help to control access to restricted areas, and they also help us to display advertising according to criteria predefined by OFTALVIST that are activated by cookies used by this entity or by third parties that provide these services on behalf of OFTALVIST.

As a general rule, there are two types of cookies.

Depending on the entity is that is managing the domain from which the cookies are sent and which processes the data that are obtained, two types may be identified:

1. Our own cookies: those which are sent to the user’s computer terminal from a computer or domain managed by the editor themselves and from which the service requested by the user is provided.

2. Third-party cookies: those which are sent to the user’s computer terminal from a computer or domain which is not managed by the editor, but by another entity which processes the data obtained through the cookies.

If the cookies are installed from a machine or domain managed by the publisher itself but the information collected by them is managed by a third party, they cannot be considered own cookies.

There is also a second classification according to the period of time they remain stored on the customer's browser:

3. Session cookies: these are designed to collect and store data while the user is accessing a web page. They are often used to store information that is only useful for the provision of a service requested by the user on a single occasion (such as a list of purchased products).

4. Persistent cookies: those where the data remains stored in the terminal and can be accessed and processed during a period defined by the cookie’s data controller, which can range from a few minutes to several years.

Finally, there is another classification with six types of cookies, according to the purpose for which the collected data is processed:

5. Technical cookies: Technical or necessary cookies are essential for our website to function correctly and they fulfil basic functions, such as identifying the session or allowing registered users to access restricted areas. For these reasons, technical cookies cannot be disabled.

6. Preference cookies: When preference cookies are used, this allows the website to record information while you browse relating to the way in which the website behaves or how it looks, such as your preferred language or the region in which you are located.

7. Statistics cookies: We use statistics cookies to see how you interact with the website, collecting anonymous information while you browse. The purpose for collecting this information is to make improvements to the website based on analysis of the aggregated data.

8. Advertising cookies: These enable us to manage the advertising spaces on our website, application or platform based on criteria such as the content displayed or how often the adverts are shown.

9. Marketing cookies: Marketing cookies are used to analyse your behaviour while you visit the website and they also occasionally allow other providers to offer you personalised and relevant advertising that is adapted to your browsing profile.

10. External social medio cookies: these are used to allow visitors to interact with content on different social media platforms (Facebook, YouTube, X, LinkedIn, etc.), and they are only generated for users of the platforms in question. The conditions of use for these cookies and the data gathered are regulated by the privacy policy for the corresponding social media platform.

Marketing cookies: Marketing or advertising cookies are used to analyse your behaviour while you visit the website and they also occasionally allow other providers to offer you personalised and relevant advertising that is adapted to your browsing profile.
